CREATIVE BOOM

Client: Arts Industry Council of SA, with support from the Department of State Development

The Creative Boom project was initiated by the Arts Industry Council of SA (AICSA) with support from the Department of State Development (DSD).  The consulting team comprised Brecknock Consulting in association with Margaret Caust, Andrew Bleby (Performing Arts) Adam Smith, (Screen) and Dr Tom Fleming a creative industries consultant based in London.

The process was a combination of desk research and individual and group meetings with more than 100 people across the creative sector as well as representatives from government, the private sector and local government.  The study found that in South Australia, our economic future is inseparable from our success in arts, culture and the creative industries.  The final Creative Boom report identifies five main areas of action that would leverage the sectors’ potential.  They are: Industry Identity & Development; Connecting & Networking; Innovation & the Digital Economy; Specialised Education; and  Layered Experiences.
